Vanessa Hudgens (on the right) is not Vanessa Minnillo, but they are both in trouble for leaked nude pics. We know nothing this scandalous will befall our own personal Vanessa

We’ve genuinely started to like Miranda July (née Grossinger) despite ourselves, Chloe Sevigny style, although sometimes she does give us a small toothache. Maybe we will give her our dental bill if we go to the George Saunders reading she’s performing at. Also there’s a to/too typo in her entry on Smog and we are total Grammar Nazis. Maybe it was her idea of a sic joke. Sorry, that was terrible.

Miranda July: Patron Saint of L.U.G.s?

Gen-Y pin-up Michael Cera to star in Gen-Y movie about mix tapes or something. Are we Gen-Y? We’re never sure. It seems to us we’re way too young to be Gen-X, but too old to be officially Gen-Y. I mean, we do (barely) remember a time before e-mail and iPhones, but we also watch Hannah Montana sometimes and keep track of High School Musical related sex scandals.

The trailer for yet another Apatow production, Drillbit Taylor, this one starring Emowen Wilson in Walter Sobchak drag. We cannot help but love Owen. He could make us laugh reading the phonebook. And you know how I feel about Texans

Ben Affleck’s directorial debut one of the decade’s best crime movies? We’ve always had a soft spot for Baffleck. He’s funny and appropriately self-deprecating in interviews. We even forgave him for the whole J. Lo sojourn. We get the feeling he’d probably agree by now that the South Park about it is pretty fucking hilarious.

Molly Lambert is Senior Editor of This Recording. She’ll fulfill all your wishes with her taco-flavored kisses.

Who among us hasn’t been hypnotized by a giant ass into dying their skin the color of a McGriddle and rolling around on furs and piles of cash in the back of a Maybach?

PREVIOUSLY ON THIS RECORDING

Rebecca Wiener had a three-way and kick-started our historic adolescence series.

Alex somehow used Camille Paglia to justify his love for the Sugababes and their solo careers.

(Note to Alex: leave the feminist pseudo-pop philosophizing to the professional vagina-havers, okay?)

Molly told you what to do in L.A. this September and showed love for Jason Segel.

Alex took note of Rashida Jones’s material preferences.

Alex broke down the mystery that is Bobby Jindal.

Tess got sick, and lived and learned the lessons of Sicko.
