In Which Everything About a Massacre Happens And Then Happens Again

I don’t know about you, but this blog is going to make its name like MSNBC did with Monicagate and CNN did with O.J. This is our time to rise and summarize every feeling in the world and to report on what the mainstream media chooses to IGNORE.

Let’s admit our inadequacies for dealing with this kind of material. But before we do that, let’s acknowledge our forthcoming series of posts which we believe wholeheartedly that our audience is ready for this kind of material.

We will be settling the will of the world. Who is good and who is evil? Look forward to that.

These are the questions we will be asking in a series of captivating images that is sure to win us The Susan Sontag Award or some other normative recognition.

I respectfully disagree with this evaluation of “With Teeth.”

When it comes to tragedy, which we pronounce in a french way, a way that is about 10 percent gay, you gotta understand that we get more fed up about Adam Gopnik slams on Kingsley Amis then we do about ninety percent of the crap that is out there.

We’ve registered some thoughts here,

Drudge did a cool thing on the partial birth thing to get to that…

HILLARY: 'Erosion of our constitutional rights'...
GIULIANI: 'I agree with it'...
OBAMA: 'I strongly disagree'...
ROMNEY: 'A step forward'...
MCCAIN: I'm very happy...

EDWARDS: 'I could not disagree more strongly'...

It’s hard to pay attention to a subject as irrelevant as a Supreme Court ruling. There should be no courts. I see them as a tremendous waste of time that could be done more cheaply with myself determining the punishment for everything. I am the only true unbiased source.

We are also the only blogger thinking about the future, and not bands of the past.

To get to the tragedy.

On Idol last night Simon did one of my favorite tributes, saying, “We give our best wishes and it was OK,” the “it was OK” referring to the performance he had just seen. I can only imagine the revolution that is occurring all over America in which people  both pay tribute to the fallen dead and criticize someone in the same breath. For example: “We want to give our best wishes to the families of New Orleans and also your e-mails are not as funny as ours.” This would be when evaluating e-mails.

Also at Idol:

"This is a sad time for everyone, so it is especially disheartening that a quick camera cutaway could have been misinterpreted. We're sorry for any grief caused by this misunderstanding, but Simon was not reacting to Chris at that point. He had turned to speak to Paula and didn't actually hear Chris' final comments."

Lythgoe continues: "Everyone at 'AMERICAN IDOL' feels compassion for those affected by this tragedy. We opened the show with those thoughts and Simon later expressed sincere condolences on behalf of the judges, recognizing the challenges we all face in dealing with this horrible event."

Earlier, a FOX executive said: "Look, in his defense, Simon felt Chris was cynically deflecting his criticism...It was unfortunate... he clearly was unaware the camera was on him when he rolled his eyes."

A backstage source defends Richardson: "Chris decided earlier in the day that he was going to give a shoutout to his friends.. he is hurting."

Terrific, but we get more of a charge out of this

The album is a concept album about robot horses who are programmed to believe they are real horses.

Well, I must say I hope so, too. She must indeed be happy to be dragged through the press as if she were some Levantine concubine or nontyping “secretary,” feathering a love-nest with ill-gotten gains. But that’s nothing to what Riza would have got if she had insisted on sticking to her original job, as was her right. The same is true of Wolfowitz: damned whatever course of action he takes. I read over the weekend that a certain bank “staffer” accused him of cutting off aid to Uzbekistan after that country had canceled the presence of United States bases on its soil. The innuendo was clear: The sinister neocon uses the World Bank to punish any dissent from imperialism. Well, the American breach with President Islam Karimov’s kleptocratic and megalomaniac regime came after a few massacres of civilian protesters and the exposure of institutional torture. Do you believe that Wolfowitz would have got better press if he had insisted on keeping up the aid payments after all that?

and this:

Professors and classmates were alarmed by the violence and perversion in his class writings. One former classmate says he and others were seriously worried that Cho could be a school shooter.

Acclaimed poet Nikki Giovanni, who was one of Cho’s professors, told C-N-N that her students were so unnerved by Cho’s behavior that she had security check on her room and eventually had him taken out of her class.

Nikki Giovanni

Slate was absolutely retarded today. I mean this is beyond the pale, really.

Some disturbed person buys a gun and blows away a bunch of people and a day later you’re running with “The Lessons”? You should be so ashamed of yourself. Gun control??? Are you freaking crazy?!?!?!?!

Anyway, like we said, what the fuck.

  1. It is too bad that Giovanni is trying to use this situation as a platform to promote her own political agenda. It is supposed to be about the victims, not Giovanni’s political ideology.
